Sandra's crusade to help victims of abuse
SINCE it was set up in 2000, the Airdrie-based Moira Anderson Foundation has set out to help children and families affected by child sexual abuse. It supports individuals whose cases progress through the legal system. Its patrons include Diana Lamplugh, mother of estate agent Suzy who went missing in July 1986. Liz Lochhead, the Earl of Mar and Kellie, and Gerald and Vera Weisfeld are also listed as patrons. The foundation has held successful conferences to mark September as Month of Action for Child Sexual Abuse Awareness. Conferences such as Child Protection - It's Everybody's Business, in 2001, and Sins of the Fathers, the following year, brought interesting and thought-provoking speakers together. Sandra herself works tirelessly against all forms of abuse. She has published educational articles and runs, on a voluntary basis, a national counselling and information helpline for those whose lives are intolerable because of workplace bullying. She also runs awareness-raising training on bullying and all forms of abuse. HELPLINE: 01236 602 885 04/04/06
