As you are no doubt aware two projects are currently running that have relevance for those who suffered abuse whilst in Scottish care homes. 1. The Scottish Executive appointed an Independent Expert to review the regulations in vogue during the period in question. Tom Shaw has indicated that he would be willing to meet with groups of victims - in various geographical locations - to discuss with them just what the situation with regards to regulations was in their individual cases. See further details HERE
2. Glasgow University have commissioned research into the entire subject of Abuse in Care. The research is being conducted by Moyra Hawthorn. After a round-robin telephone discussion it was agreed that, notwithstanding the current difficulties being experienced by INCAS, and, purely in the interest and for the benefit of, all victims these two projects be taken to their conclusion. In view of this we are asking for anyone who qualifies and would be interested in speaking with a) Tom Shaw for Project One b) Myra Hawthorn on Project Two to get in touch as soon as possible allowing us to compile a geographical 'group' list for the one and to arrange suitable times and locations for both. Some of you may already have heard from Moyra as Frank Docherty had originally supplied her with a list of potential interviewees. Should you know of anyone who does not have Internet access please pass this on. Interested parties are asked to respond via email
